Applications for our acupuncture course starting in September 2026 are now open! Please join us on one of our upcoming open events to find out more - click here to book your place. If you already have a degree, you can apply for another student loan to study on our four-year (part-time) BSc in Acupuncture. If you live in London or the North West, you can now complete your clinic days in our teaching clinics in York, London or Northwich - saving travel time and money.

At The NCA You Can Build Your Practice During Your Training

Ensuring that you can succeed as a practitioner is our number one priority. As well as giving you an excellent acupuncture training, we also give you the opportunity to start seeing your own patients during your course, by taking additional training in massage.

The benefit of this extra training is that you can start to see patients from the start of Year 2. Our recent graduates have told us that this has been incredibly helpful for them, and they are now looking forward to building their practice - rather than starting their practice. Of course, this is not possible or desirable for everyone, and these extra classes are optional.

Massage top-up course

This short top-up course is designed to build on what you have learned in the bodywork classes during your first year of study and to refine your massage skills. This means you can arrange insurance and offer patients a full and accredited routine. This can be helpful in generating an income during the remainder of your studies and can give you the opportunity to build up a patient base while you complete your acupuncture training. The course is taught by the bodywork team and is a full weekend’s attendance followed by an assessment day, with a workbook provided for home-study in between.

Extra Cost Alert

Adding the Massage top-up course will cost you an extra £360, and you also need to factor in the cost of insurance to enable you to practice which costs around £130 per addition.

The Graduate Take

Joanne McFarlane - graduate

"This additional course, offered by the NCA allowed me to open a new practice in Morpeth, Northumberland called Jo Mac Holistic, which offers massage therapies, cupping, and auriculotherapy. I’d been treating patients during my studies and the aim was to have a robust business ready for graduation! I loved the Bodywork module within the degree and decided that it would be a good entry point to receive patients prior to qualifying as an Acupuncturist. I’d experienced a lot of massage during my time in Asia and wanted to receive a certification that would allow me to become insured in the UK. The course was really fun, and I made my money back from it quickly once in practice."
