Supporting You To Succeed
We are here to support you every step of the way – from your very first enquiry, during your training, into practice and throughout your career.
Supporting you as a student
We are all human and at some point during the acupuncture course, chances are that you may need some support and help to succeed in your studies. This can be as simple as having a friendly person to talk to if you need a bit of encouragement (we’ve got this - ALL our staff can help). However, if you are struggling with a major life change, a physical or mental illness, a specific learning disability or physical disability, our dedicated Student Support Officer Claire Oxley is here to help you.

Claire Oxley Student Support Officer
"I am excited to be taking up this new role for the College. My job is helping students with their learning needs. I will be supporting the academic and admin teams to put in place robust policies and procedures to ensure students get the best possible support during their acupuncture training."

Supporting you if have a specific learning disability (SPLD) such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, or ADHD
There is increasing awareness about neurodiversity and how it impacts people’s lives and learning. Training to become an acupuncture practitioner on a degree level course is no different to other parts of your life, there will be aspects of the course that come naturally to you, and other aspects that will be more of a challenge. We are here to celebrate your successes and help you with the parts that you struggle with.

Supporting you once you have graduated
It’s important to us that you get the support you need, both when you are a new practitioner finding your feet, and as you grow and develop in your practice. This is where the Practitioner Hub, our bespoke service for practitioners, comes in. By joining the Hub as a new practitioner, you will find a warm welcome and a safe space for professional growth with monthly live Q&A sessions and micro-lectures to help you learn new skills and focus on clinically relevant development. You also get a discount on our in-College or online seminars given by experts in their fields. The Practitioner Hub also offers closed supervision groups run by professional supervisors who are practitioners. Attending a supervision group is a wonderful way of exploring issues which arise in your practice and feeling supported with them. Issues which may be explored include building your practice, boundaries, payment, relationships with your patients, and working to avoid burnout. This all helps to ensure that you grow and develop as a practitioner within a supportive community.

The Graduate Perspective
Melanie Bryan
"I class myself as a practical person, and I was worried I would find the academic side of my degree a struggle. However, I found myself progressing well every year with the help and support from the College and friends. I was self-employed which meant I could juggle my patients to fit in with my studies and clinic days. My time studying with the NCA gave me firm roots within this immense subject, and at the end of my training I felt confident to branch off knowing I have this grounded knowledge with traditional Chinese medicine."
