Not having to travel all the time really helps when you do not live close to York. We teach you via blended learning - some of your classroom sessions are live online, and via e-learning which you access at times that suit you.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approach

The NCA is one of only two acupuncture Colleges in the UK to focus our teaching on TCM acupuncture and how to apply this knowledge in a Western setting.

We are the only College where (English) students can access student funding on our three-year (full-time) BSc in Acupuncture if you have not previously studied to degree level AND on our four-year (part-time) BSc in Acupuncture if you have already studied to degree level.

Easy to get to

York is well connected by rail from most parts of the UK. Students can buy a student railcard that takes a third off rail travel and the College is a 10 minute walk from York train station.

Reasonably priced accommodation

York has a myriad of accommodation options, however most of our students choose to stay with local families who rent rooms costing between £25 - £35 per night for bed and breakfast. Knowing you have somewhere friendly, local and reasonably priced to stay is a huge bonus when you are away from home and counting the pennies!

*Part-time loans are currently only available for students living in England. We are not designated for students living in Wales for any student funding.

"I drive to York on the Wednesday evening, so I am close to College for the Thursday/Friday lectures. I have also been able to add clinic on the Saturday, which is a great help, so I then drive back on the Saturday evening. The drive is ok, 120ish miles and takes around 2 hours and 10 minutes to 2 hours and 40 minutes, depending on traffic. I have an economical car and it costs me around £40/£45 pounds for the round trip. I find it quite easy to do as I only spend around 4 to 5 hours a week travelling, and of course we are online with Teams a lot, which gives me a good break. Holidays also help break up the term. I also listen to podcasts or college stuff whilst driving, so instead of losing a few hours, I gain a few hours of study."
