As a not-for-profit organisation, every penny of our student fees goes into making sure that you get the best possible training at a well-run and sustainable college.

Important fee information

  1. Most students take out a student loan to help pay for their tuition fees and their living costs.

  2. If you are awarded student finance your tuition fee does not cover the whole cost of the fee – you need to pay top-up fees.

  3. Your student finance tuition fee comes directly to us.

  4. The fees are set for the duration of your course and will only be increased if the national inflation level exceeds 5%, in which case the College reserves the right to vary the fees.

  5. You pay a non-refundable enrolment fee when you accept your place on the course.

The Student Take

Eric Ping Yan NG

"I am originally from Hong Kong and have worked in the aviation engineering sector for my working life and have recently settled back in the UK. My wife received acupuncture for an injury which gave me the idea to train as an acupuncturist myself. I chose the NCA because of their foundational approach to traditional Chinese medicine. Now I am here it’s quite mind blowing, learning all this new knowledge which is very different from my background in science. Regarding paying the fees - I am self-funding using my savings and paying by monthly instalments to spread out the costs."

Other costs to factor in:

Travelling

Costs such as petrol and parking need to be considered if you are driving, or train fares if you are coming by rail. You are entitled to buy a railcard to help with travel costs if you are studying on the full-time course. This costs £80 for three years or £35 for one year.

Accommodation

Most of our students stay with local families who provide bed and breakfast at the reasonable cost of around £25-£45 per night. There are also a variety of local hotels, hostels and Airbnb accomodation close to the college.

Books

At the beginning of the course you will need to buy our set course texts and apps which cost around around £300, to buy new, which will also give you online access, but they can also all be bought much cheaper second-hand if you prefer. We will give you guidance about these books and how to buy them. After this, any books you buy will be of your choosing. Whilst you are in the process of acquiring your own copies, we have an excellent and well stocked library that you can borrow books from.

Clinic uniform

To comply with our uniform policy you will need to buy a clinic jacket which costs about £25. You may also need to buy suitable shoes and dark trousers.

Cost of missed clinic days

  • £80 per day for clinic not attended, or not notified before 8:45am on the day of the clinic.
  • £20 – for cancelling within 1 week of the clinic day arranged.

Practitioner Observation Visits (POVs)

You also need to factor in the cost of travelling to your Practitioner Observation Visits – two in Year 1 and three in Year 2.
